Belize is one of two countries in the region to be selected to participate in the Code Caribbean: Promoting STEAM for Innovation in the Caribbean pilot project. A total of 22 schools have been chosen to take part in this two-year computer science program that aims to develop students' socio-emotional and entrepreneurial skills, while also introducing them to coding and enhancing their math, comprehension, and writing abilities. The computer science curriculum will be integrated into the regular school day and follow the open-source syllabus developed by Code.org. The primary objective of the project is to expand the technological skills of young individuals, which will ultimately lead to innovation and diversification as they progress through school. At #YourMoECST, we are proud to showcase this initiative as an example of how we continue to #InnovateForBelize!
